Amsterdam-based photographer and freelance copywriter Hülya Kilicaslan (1977) studied Painting and Photography at the Art Academy Constantijn Huygens (Kampen), Art and Culture at the School for Journalism (Utrecht) and Production/Direction at the Media Academy (Hilversum).
She is drawn towards the creative side of photography, rather than the technical side. Throughout the years she has developed an artistic style in which she strives for the pure, intimate and unposed portrait. Composition is of great significance in her work, and her style is characterized by a certain rawness. She has the ability to blend in, to be invisible, thereby being able to aim her lens without compromising the situation.
Her work has been published in several (inter)national media outlets.
In addition to being a photographer she also pays her bills by copywriting. As a freelance media professional she was strongly involved in the realization of various projects and campaigns. Besides that, she occasionally writes articles for public magazines. A small selection of her published work can be found in the section WRITINGS.
